EP REVIEW | Under Electric Light – Never Lose Another Day

ARTIST: Under Electric Light

RELEASE: Never Lose Another Day

RELEASE DATE: 12/07/15

RECORD COMPANY: Hail Hail Records

I don’t know a great deal about Montreal apart from what I learned in the St Jude’s Infirmary song that’s written in its honour.  And I know its gaze game is good with ‘No Joy’ and ‘The Besnard Lakes’ amongst its creative residents. So it seems safe to say it inspires much dreaminess. That’s continued with the new ‘Under Electric Light’ release, ‘Never Lose Another Day’ that’s out now on ‘Hail Hail Records’ (Liverpool  UK).

Opening track ‘Pieces of Me’ is a warm trembling introduction to the record with washes of sound. ‘Never Lose Another Day’ basks in a Slowdivey glow. There’s a change of tempo and feel with ‘All Night’ which introduces electro beats under shimmery sounds. ‘Runaway Sun’s’ acoustic strum and reverb swell floats off skyward.
