ARTIST: Your Friends Polymers
RELEASE: CHUDESA
RELEASE DATE: 04/12/15
RECORD COMPANY: Unsigned
Hailing from Samara, Russia ‘Your Friends Polymers’ collectively produce stunning dreamy shoegaze coupled with blissful vocal arrangements and immense soaring soundscapes. Their debut EP ‘CHUDSEA’ was released back in early December 2015 to very little fanfare but stands out on its own as an epic release that most blogs, including this one, overlooked.
Opening track ‘Kevin’ rumbles into the musical ether on a wavy rolling wall of golden hued guitars until we’re treated to a stunning vocal performance straddling a ‘barely there’ percussion track. Up next ‘Snow’ shimmers as it ascends on a shuffling beat & a raging, stunningly effected guitar line! Again, the vocal track is flawless and reminiscent of recently reformed, UK based, early 4AD stalwarts ‘Lush’. Track three ‘On The Cloud’, is a monstrous maelstrom of glorious sound as it weaves through layers of brilliant guitar lines, that ever present dreamy vocal line and that shimmering tambourine! The EP’s closing track ‘Chudesa’ is a jangling dream pop infused affair reminiscent of Philadelphia based dreamgazers ‘The Morelings’. Another hazy track thats sure to impress the underground shoegazing fraternity.
