Seminal experimental dream-gazers ‘The Veldt’ are back with a brand new single entitled ‘Sanctified’ lifted off of their forthcoming five track ‘The Shocking Fuzz Of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation’ Mixtape EP, due for release via ‘Leonard Skully Records’ in March. This new EP will be followed later in the year by a full length album entitled ‘Resurrection Hymns’ released via SonaBLAST! Records.
‘Sanctified’ is a melodically soulful slice of dreamy shoegaze that floats on a jet stream of droning layered guitars & electronic drum & bass patterns. There is a gorgeous sonic synergy between the soaring vocal lines, textured guitars & the stunningly expressive electronic instrumentation that carries the listener away on a hazy maelstrom of beautiful sound.
For those of you unfamiliar with ‘The Veldt’ or their music, they began life back in the late 80’s exploding onto the scene with their stunning brand of melodically structured shoegaze mixed with beautiful dreampop flair. Daniel and Danny Chavis are natives of Raleigh/ Chapel Hill, North Carolina and are residents of East Village for the past 28 years. They embarked on a sonic journey of discovery that would eventually see them release a plethora of stunning albums & would also see them working with some influential artists including Robin Guthrie & A.R. Kane, TV On The Radio, Mos Def and Lady Miss Kier (Deee-Lite), and also share the stage with: The Pixies, Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Manic Street Preachers, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Oasis, Living Colour and TV on the Radio, among others. In 1999, the Chavis brothers met bassist Hayato Nakao, who would become their permanent partner. Their music was loud, exploring color, space, sensuality and beat driven melodies with rhythmic and dynamic tension. Daniel’s falsetto vocals cast a contrast upon the wall of sound created by Danny’s heavy rock dreamscape guitar and Hayato’s pounding and licentious beats.
‘The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation’ is available to pre-order right now digitally via www.theveldtmusic.bandcamp.com/releases & is also available to pre-order on limited edition CD featuring cover artwork by Danny Chavis (The Veldt) and Andrew Prinz (Mahogany), along with track listing, and credits.
