Melbourne based noisy post-gazers ‘Contrast’ have returned with a stunning new single and accompanying video entitled ‘Livewire’. This is the first track to be lifted from their highly anticipated forthcoming debut album and it was recorded in Melbourne under the watchful eye of Stu Mackenzie from King gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The video was spliced together by the band on super 8 and 16mm film and it takes a tentative nod back to those brilliant alternative music video’s of old. Check it out:
‘Livewire’ opens with squalling feed back and droning guitars before that noisy, driving post-punk inspired bass line and those pounding drums catapult the entire track into an uncompromising sonic orbit. Add into the mix the hazy guitar progressions coupled with that utterly addictive vocal and what we have is a stunning slice of noisy but progressive post-gaze!
