Canadian based psychedelic explorers ‘The Orange Kyte’ have returned with another immense single and brilliant accompanying video entitled ‘Microdose’. This latest single see’s the band continuing on with their musical manifesto of releasing one new track per month in varying sonic shapes & sizes and it is the follow up single to the mesmerising ‘Which Vivian?’ and to their previous two releases, the fantastic debut track ‘Morning Pages’ and the stunningly vibrant ‘Dope:86’. The band are made up of ‘Vancouver based but Dublin born’, Stevie Moonboots & a revolving door of likeminded musicians with players on this latest track listed as: Guitars, Bass & Vox by Stevie Moonboots, Keys by Conor Paxton (Buffalo Sunn), Percussion by Mike Brown (Slumberland) & Programming, additional 12 string acoustic guitar and tambourine by Jason Corbett (ACTORS).
‘Microdose’ moves and sways on a dizzying metronomic beat like a sonic version of an Indian snake charmer! The hypnotic psych induced keyboard thrills circumnavigate those impressive vocals and the brilliantly addictive guitar attack as the track loops and arc’s all over the musical landscape. The brilliant accompanying video comes courtesy of Dan Agnew’s rather trippy ‘Doppler Effect Version II’ originally released in 1968.
Another amazing track by a band who never fails to impress me. Recommended Listening!
