Jaquette ''Spring Inclination'' 2016

ARTIST: Automatic Fiction

RELEASE: Spring Inclination

RELEASE DATE: 03/16

Fascinating three piece musical outfit ‘Automatic Fiction’ were formed in Bordeaux in 2015. They self released their debut four track EP entitled ‘Spring Inclination’ back in March 2016. Their impressive sound shimmies between driving alt-rock and beautifully dreamy, ethereal dream-pop that’s all expertly intertwined with surging swathes of electronic synths and cascading sequenced piano thrills! ‘Automatic Fiction’ is: Lise Data, Tom Data and Dany Ladrat and ‘Spring Inclination’ is available to listen to via the bands own website www.automaticfiction.com/ with two tracks available to buy/download via automaticfiction.bandcamp.com.

The EP opens up with ‘Grass Grows By Itself’ and immediately I’m amazed at how close at times their overall sound is to seminal UK based shoegazers ‘Lush’. Stunning synth swells meld perfectly with those fuzzy guitar progressions as the pounding drums usher in that beautiful vocal line. We’re introduced to a duel vocal break half way through as the sound swirls within a brilliantly vivid sonic maelstrom of instrumentation. A stunning opening track indeed. Track two ‘Shifted’ arrives on piercing synth swells as the reverberating guitars circumnavigate another immense vocal line and those driving drum patterns enter the sonic arena. Beautiful piano stabs compliment the vocal progression as golden cascading sonic frequencies loop and arc all over the entire piece and we’re taken on a meandering journey through its sonic peaks and troughs. The penultimate track is called ‘If You Love’ and its addictive guitar progressions will have you hooked from the off before the band injects a subtle psychedelic twist into proceedings. Again, the vocals are expertly produced and the instrumentation is utterly addictive!

Dub like guitar stabs riding on waves of synth and off kilter drum patterns heralds the arrival of the closing track on ‘Spring Inclination’. ‘You Know’ is stunning! This is an immense slice of electronic dream-pop that soars into the sonic ether and builds from its very first note into an explosive cacophony of beautiful sonic sound waves. A fitting end to a brilliant debut EP from a band that we think you should be keeping an eye on going forward.

Recommended Listening!
